Website SEO Tips
YouTube Optimisation
YouTube is a video sharing website where
users can upload and share videos. YouTube uses Adobe Flash Video (requires the
Adobe Flash Player plug-in) technology to display movie clips, TV clips, music videos,
video blogging and original videos. Even PowerPoint can be converted into Video
for YouTube.
YouTube is the second-largest search engine, second only to Google. It is a wholly-owned
a subsidiary of Google. To take advantage of the YouTube marketing potential (it
streams more than 1.2 billion videos a day), the Web designer needs to have a strategy
for implementation and optimisation.
Most of the content on YouTube is uploaded by individuals, although media corporations
provide some videos. There are two types of YouTube channels – brand channels
and the free user channels.

Optimising YouTube
A series of interesting videos that people want to watch can sell any product, as
long as the video can be found by the Search Engines.
Every video on YouTube has a page that can be optimised, as for any other page on
the web. The videos themselves are invisible to Search Engines – but the page
content determines the ranking for your target keywords.
The name of the video becomes the Title tag, the description, found in the "more
info" section, becomes the Meta description tag.
Some Tips
- Include links in the YouTube profile pages to your Website.
- Include Keywords in the name of the video, and use the word "video".
- Include Keywords in the description. Put a link to your Website at the start of
the description.
- Tag your videos with keywords.
- Thumbnails of the videos have a large impact on video visitor numbers. Select the
best of the three thumbnails supplied.
- Use the Data and Statistics feature of YouTube.
